Jeffrey LewisRoston on Gertz on Tice

Michael Roston beats me to the punch, noting the incongruity between past and current Bill Gertz reporting on NSA whistleblower Russ Tice.

FWIW, I’ve always thought Tice sounds a little odd, even if it gets in the way of an ol’ fashioned impeachment.

Good catch, and one that should get wider play. I’m shocked, shocked that Bill Gertz would turn on a former trusted source like that.

Gertz is scurrilous selective stenographer (and not a very good one, at that) for those in the intelligence community all too eager to leak secret (sometimes extremely so) data for ideological purposes.

I thought his first book, a diatribe against Bill Clinton’s security policies, was tendentious and deeply flawed (my review can be found here http://www.thebulletin.org/article.php?art_ofn=jf00schwartz_039) and from what I have seen, his subsequent books are even worse. Regnery’s standards for good, let alone logical writing are evidently very, very low.
