What You Learn From Implosion Testing
posted Tuesday January 30, 2007 under north-korea, north-korea by paul_kerrThat was one issue raised when I was discussing the latest supervillain alliance with various folks. A partial answer can be found here.

Is there a write-up on what kind of diagnostic equipment is needed to do useful implosion testing? My impression is that flash x-ray radiography is the gold standard, but other techniques are also useful. Obviously, this leads to the question of whether Evil Axians are known to have acquired the appropriate equipment.

The UN list of prohibited nuclear technology to Iraq from 1996 has a good list and description of all of the various technologies which are useful for implosion testing. See chapter 11 here: http://www.iraqwatch.org/government/US/DOE/DOE-Annex3.htm
