James ActonThe View from the IAEA

The view, this morning, of the UN plaza in Vienna (where the IAEA and CTBTO are based) passed onto me by a contact. Thank you, contact.

Happy change day!

“Yes we can!” — must be another fan of Bob the Builder.

Now head on over to the oval office and ring up those mullahs and the Norks and tell them to put away those childish nuclear weapon things…

Surprisingly well done…. A crop circle prankster, perhaps?

They probably had a better view of the ceremony in Vienna than I did on the Mall. Actually, I know they did.

  5. AWR (History)

The IAEA can do it. But only if given the chance, the intestinal fortitude, the ability to overcome the seduction of bureaucratic self-preservation, and (most important) the political will of its members.

    Photoshop?

In the cold light of day (and possibly due to the warmer temperatures over the last 24 hours) our abilities are less clear today.

Given the height of the building, it’s definitely not a MAGNOX reactor.

Photoshop? They wouldn’t do that. Now if someone erased it and covered it with a Monopoly roof we could have something to debate for years to come.

Definitely NOT photoshopped – it was done by an Austrian staff member of the IAEA, Norbert Aschenbrenner – who told me “I felt that I should do something and thought about how to best place it without leaving too many footprints yesterday [Monday] evening
then I came in early today (7 p.m.) and felt a bit like a graffiti sprayer when putting it into the snow”.

The artist has been identified as Norbert Aschenbrenner, works for the IAEA. It’s on the IAEA DPR. Most of it had melted away by lunch time …

Actually, judging from the choice of font [notably the jousting lance Exclamation Mark], I’d say this was most likely Lichtenstein

I am just glad it’s not yellow.
