James ActonMoving on

Today is my last day at King’s College London. I’ve been at King’s (in one capacity for another) for almost two years and I’ve enjoyed them thoroughly. I’d like to say a big public thank you to everyone I’ve worked with but, in particular, to Pete Zimmerman and Wyn Bowen, who were my bosses at the Centre for Science and Security Studies.

After a month or so of gainful unemployment, I will be starting a new job on the other side of the pond in the Non-proliferation Programme Nonproliferation Program of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. I will continue research into non-proliferation and disarmament but I will have to learn to pronounce “Carnegie” like an American (accent on the first syllable, not the second) to avoid too much grief from certain people when I arrive (you know who you are).

On a more practical level, my @kcl.ac.uk e-mail address will stop working shortly. It shouldn’t be too hard to find my new one on the Carnegie webpages when I start there.

Congratulations James. After 8 years in DC myself I would strongly advise playing up the best of British accent for all its worth. The Ynaks are still suckers for it!!
