Remarks by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld at the Seventh Annual Space and Missile Defense Conference are now available from the Department of Defense.
CDI’s Victoria Samson, who attended the gathering, noticed a mildly Orwellian editorial decision:
One part of the speech which somehow didn’t make it to this transcript was when an audience member got up during the Q&A and asked Rumsfeld if he would be willing to comment on space-based missile defense. Rumsfeld’s response? “(pause) No. Next question.”
Apparently, its bad form to show SECDEF behaving like a petulant child.
