Jeffrey LewisIraq Survey Group Ends Work

Working on some odds and ends.

Officials with the Iraq Survey Group tell The Washington Post that “the violence in Iraq, coupled with a lack of new information, led them to fold up the effort shortly before Christmas.”

Is “shortly before Christmas’ a polite way of saying “just after the election”?

The findings of the September 2004 Duelfer Report “will stand as the ISG’s final conclusions and will be published this spring.” Duelfer is now in the United States preparing addenda for the report. “There’s no particular news in them, just some odds and ends,” an intelligence official told The Post.

The Post reporsts that “there has been no public accounting of the money” spent on the WMD Hunt. “A spokesman for the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency said the entire budget and the expenditures would remain classified.”
