Jeffrey LewisBlinded with Science

The House Government Reform Committee has a website devoted to creating “an ongoing record of interference with science by the Bush Administration.”

The website endeavors to keep alive the issues featured in a report prepared by the committee staff, at the request of Rep. Henry A. Waxman, entitled Politics and Science in the Bush Administration. [Also check out the UCS report entitled Scientific Integrity in Policy Making, which documents the dismantling of scientific panels providing arms control advice.]

The latest outrage is a new Department of Health and Human Services policy that “requires the World Health Organization to submit all requests for expert scientific advice to political officials at HHS who pick which federal scientists will be permitted to respond.”

Where does this bozo get his scientific advice?
