Jeffrey LewisUS Drops Push for ICC Exemption

The United States has dropped its effort to secure a Security Council exemption for U.S. forces under the ICC, after a revised resolution circulated Tuesday night failed to garner sufficient support.

James Cunningham, U.S. deputy ambassador to the U.N., told reporters that “The United States has decided not to proceed further with consideration and action on the draft at this time in order to avoid a prolonged and divisive debate. We are dropping action on this resolution.”

And, while we are discussing Abu Ghraib and its impact, Paul Wolfowitz reportedly told the HASC that Iraqis are not “overly concerned” about the Abu Ghraib issue.

What could possibly be going on inside these people/’s heads?
